Lyrics

Words have been my life and meaningful words sewn together by chords implying a deep meaning expressed through harmonic frequencies, simply put, ‘song’ is my soul.

When I listen to a song, what captures me is the story of the song. Yes, I am a ‘lyrics person’. Are you one?

I have had so many debates with fellow music/song lovers, who claim melody is the soul of music. I call them them the ‘melody people’. I think everyone has their perspective. I have mine, which always and forever zeros down to ‘lyrics’.

To melody people out there, this is what I have to say!

From the movie ‘Music and Lyrics’…

Alex Fletcher : It doesn’t have to be perfect. Just spit it out. They’re just lyrics.

Sophie Fisher : “Just lyrics”?

Alex Fletcher : Lyrics are important. They’re just not as important as melody.

Sophie Fisher : I really don’t think you get it.

Alex Fletcher : Oh. You look angry. Click your pen.

Sophie Fisher : A melody is like seeing someone for the first time. The physical attraction. Sex.

Alex Fletcher : I so get that.

Sophie Fisher : But then, as you get to know the person, that’s the lyrics. Their story. Who they are underneath. It’s the combination of the two that makes it magical.

Beautiful ain’t ?

Stop and Look Up!

The weather is turning cold here, and a few days back we had storms in our part of the world. It’s passed now, but did leave a catastrophe behind. I have, however, always believed in looking for the silver lining. So the good thing about this week is that it is wet. Mornings are glorious, magic literally. Drizzles, gushes of showers sometimes,  lit with sunlight at one end and dark clouds on the other.

Once in a while, we do get to witness heavenly magic too. All one has to do is to stop and look up. Yeah, I am talking about RAINBOWS. Play of lights in sky, which I am too fascinated about. May be ‘he’ just wanted us to see how spectacularly he can split white light into seven beautiful colors merging and fading in heavens, to feast our eyes.

I was so lucky to see one this morning. I was literally spellbound when I got to look up at sky from my car window and saw a double rainbow.

“Should I just stop the car and try a click ? Nah I won’t make it! Where will I park? I mean look at it, a complete arch. Spectacular! Not just one, see there… another one emerging. God, I must stop and click.”

I did stop, got out of the car,  positioned myself with my mobile camera to possibly try a panorama shot. A few drops of water from heaven wet my phone, and I could see the the arches glowing at its best. Vibrant split and radiant… double rainbow. I could see all the seven colors distinctively. Got a couple panorama shots and as I was clicking, a few big gushes of rain came down pouring and the rainbows just faded away. Such a beautiful phenomenon! Rays of sun, water droplets, dark clouds and a little play of colors in sky.

I can’t possibly articulate the satisfaction I had that I captured the magic. Not as much in my gadget, but in my mind. So much better there! Sometimes one has to just stop, and watch.

The Rainbow
By Christina Rossetti

Boats sail on the rivers,
And ships sail on the seas;
But clouds that sail across the sky
Are prettier far than these.

There are bridges on the rivers,
As pretty as you please;
But the bow that bridges heaven,
And overtops the trees,
And builds a road from earth to sky,
Is prettier far than these.

Here’s my click. Come on, feast your soul now!

His Slice of Life!

Dreams woven of silk,
In his radiant eyes.
Telling me the stories,
Of a tomorrow to come.

Fun filled and joyous
Is that world,
Life there is a bliss,
No downhills.

There are superheroes,
But no villains.
Angles in a glow,
No place for demons.

His world is almost Disneyland,
There’s magic and there’s laughter,
Nothing is ever, critically panned.
Like moments stolen from a comic book!
Fun unlimited, off the hook!

Such are dreams, in his radiant eyes.

I listen to him,
make no comments,
No reason to introduce the grim.

Continuance

It’s winter again,
Clad in wool,
I smelt in the afternoon sun,
Enduring these blues,
Is not much a bother.
Lull, my love is for sun,
No you canna win!
The good thing about winter,
Is that you can plant for the spring.
Look how hope doesn’t wither,
There’s always something.
Something to look out for,
Something to do.
So, I sowed a few seeds,
Some Chrysanthemums and Anemones,
Dahlias and Daffodils.
They said five centimetres deep,
Five centimetres apart,
Played with the soil and
Put some in pots and the rest in the plot.
Now, watering them each day,
Smiling at them, singing and talking,
and waving the ‘hey’.
Whispering to them,
“you must grow and flourish,
hang in there, I shall nourish”.
I will know it’s spring again,
when you flower in abundance.
Look how hope doesn’t wither,
There’s always continuance.
Some Chrysanthemums and Anemones,
Dahlias and Daffodils.

Beauty of a Woman

Came across this beautiful poem. Couldn’t resist…had to post!

I am so proud to be a woman. Such a marvelous creation of God. Hey, is beauty of a woman defined with what she wears and how much her clothes cost? Is it to do with the make up brands and the length of her skirt?

Really, does that define you…women?

The Beauty Of A Woman

The beauty of a woman Is not in the clothes she wears,
The figure that she carries, Or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen from in her eyes,
Because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mole,
But true beauty in a woman Is reflected in her soul.

It is the caring that she lovingly gives,
The passion that she shows,
And the beauty of a woman
With passing years only grows.

A Photograph

IMG20190604215056-01-01 (1)
Was dusting a few old books on the shelf,
when I bumped into this little treasure.
Lost between pages,
a photograph of my brother and me,
when we were our most naive selves.
One doesn’t get to ‘hold’ photos these days, ain’t.
We click and we forget, then we click another one.
I felt it’s texture;
glossy paper, but old now…
fading colors, innocent smiles.
Such a beautiful reminder of the old times,
Like ‘holding’ a moment of our old lives.

The Winter’s Blue

The winter’s blue
Is not my shade.
This depressing hue
It’s chilling edges
Is not my game.

I’m torn between weathers
Feel like a bird with no feathers
The cold is gettin to my bones
with it’s sharp edged sword.
Send me your Sun, oh merciful Lord
Let his rays shine, on my broken soul.

I’m waiting for the gold, the orange, the red
Each moment, each minute, each day is a tread
I know I will bask, but the road is hell
I know I will be kissed, he will break the spell.

There is hope, the hope is all I have
To take me through this one sided brawl
The memories of which I never wanna recall.

I will know when he is near
coz there will be no fear
and the hiding will shed their gear.
It will be green and purple abound
The shades will change, the dark will disappear
There will be love, his love around.
